Car bulbs and lighting

A blown bulb is a fine and a safety risk, and at the same time one of the cheapest repairs there is. The tricky part is the fitting: H7, H4, H11, HB3, D2S — there are dozens and they look alike. Your licence plate tells us which one belongs in it.

Halogen, LED or xenon

Halogen is the classic bulb: cheap and available everywhere. Xenon (HID) gives far more light and appears mainly on cars from the 2010s; those bulbs cost more and are replaced in pairs because the colour shifts over time. LED lasts longest and uses least power, but may only be used where the headlight unit is approved for it — an LED bulb in a halogen headlight dazzles oncoming traffic and isn't permitted.

Always replace in pairs

When one headlight fails the other is usually near the end of its life too. A new bulb also differs noticeably in brightness and colour from an old one. An even light pattern is better for visibility and for the annual inspection.

More light within the rules

Philips and Osram make halogen bulbs giving up to 150% more light than standard, fully road-legal. They do last less long — that's the trade-off. We'll explain at the counter what suits your case.

Not just headlights

We also stock tail lights, brake lights, indicators, fog lights, plate lighting and interior bulbs. If a bulb keeps failing after replacement, the fitting or a fuse may be at fault.
