Buy a car battery

A battery rarely warns you in advance. You usually find out on the first cold morning: the starter turns slowly, or you just hear clicking. We test your battery free of charge at the counter, so you know whether it really is the battery or something else.

Flat or worn out?

If the car won't start and you hear rapid clicking, the battery lacks the voltage to turn the starter. If nothing happens at all, it could also be the starter motor or a poor connection. If the battery keeps going flat during normal driving, it's often age — or the alternator isn't charging, which is a garage matter. Batteries last four to seven years on average; short trips shorten that considerably.

Start-stop needs a different type

If your car has start-stop, you can't fit an ordinary battery. Those systems need an AGM or EFB battery built for many more charge cycles. A standard battery looks cheaper but is finished within a year. Your licence plate tells us which type belongs in it.

Capacity and starting power

Two numbers matter: capacity in amp-hours (Ah) and cold cranking amps (A). Both must at least match what the manufacturer specifies. More is fine, less means winter starting trouble. Dimensions and terminal positions matter too — the battery has to fit the tray and the cables have to reach.
